Jordan Henderson has launched a staunch defence of Manchester United's Harry Maguire after an incident on Tuesday.
Maguire started for England in the Three Lions' friendly match against the Ivory Coast last night and his name was booed by his own fans when the teams were read out before kick-off. Maguire was also booed when touching the ball for the first time.
The centre-back has endured a difficult season at Old Trafford, with many questioning his credentials to captain United, and Tuesday night's incident caused by a small section of England fans was the latest blow to Maguire's confidence in a campaign that cannot end quick enough. England boss Gareth Southgate was asked about the booing after the match and he called it a 'joke'.

Southgate has rarely showed anger in interviews during his time as England boss but he looked visibly annoyed when defending Maguire.
Liverpool captain Henderson also defended Maguire on Tuesday night, writing a strongly worded post to fans on social media. "I can't get my head around what has happened at Wembley tonight," Henderson wrote.
"Harry Maguire has been a colossus for England. Without him, the profess made at the last two tournaments would not have been possible. To be booed at his home stadium, for no reason? What have we become?
"What happened tonight was just wrong. As someone who wants to win with England, I feel fortunate to share a dressing room with him. We all feel the same!"
Maguire will next be in action against his former club Leicester on Saturday, April 2.
