The summer transfer window is in full swing as Liverpool edge closer to a deal for Darwin Nunez.
Jurgen Klopp's side have already wrapped up the signing of Fabio Carvalho from Fulham and will be hopeful Nunez and Calvin Ramsay of Aberdeen could be next through the door.
As has often been the case in recent years, however, the Reds do not often splash out millions of pounds in transfer fees unless able to recoup capital through player sales - a trend which looks set to continue this summer.

Sadio Mane is the big name set to seek pastures new during the current window, with Bayern Munich expected to be his next destination. Below is a look at the other four individuals who could also be on their way out of Anfield as sporting director Julian Ward gears up for a busy couple of months.
Sadio Mane - £42.75million
Klopp's side have already rejected two bids for Mane from Bayern, the first of which was instantly dismissed. The German giants put forward an initial offer worth £21.5million plus £4.5million in add-ons and returned with a second bid of £23.5million with £6.5m in bonus payments as their second proposal.
Liverpool are understood to have laughed off the latter approach after discovering the add-ons included as part of this deal were dependant on Bayern Munich winning the Champions League for the next three successive seasons and Mane securing the Ballon d'Or in each year of his contract at the Allianz Arena.
Bayern are expected to return with a third offer next week and are aware the Reds are holding out for a figure close to £42.75m.
Takumi Minamino - £17million
Minamino will be allowed to leave Anfield two-and-a-half years after arriving at the club from Red Bull Salzburg for £7.25m.
Monaco are leading the race to sign the Japan international, who is also admired by Leeds United, Southampton and Wolves.
The 27-year-old's agent, Yusuke Akiyama, has travelled from Japan to begin transfer talks, with Minamino looking likely to seek a new challenge.
Liverpool are aiming to secure a £17million fee for Minamino, which would see the Reds bank a healthy profit of just under £10m.
Neco Williams - £15million
As Liverpool's pursuit of Calvin Ramsay continues to gather pace, Neco Williams appears increasingly likely to target first-team football elsewhere.
The Welsh right-back enjoyed a productive second half of last season on loan at Fulham, whom he helped earn promotion back to the Premier League.
A return to Craven Cottage could well be on the cards, only this time on a permanent basis, with Marco Silva's side among those to express an interest in the defender.
Liverpool are holding out for £15million for Williams, whose chances of breaking into Klopp's first-team have been hampered by the outstanding performances of Trent Alexander-Arnold.
Nat Phillips - £15million
Similarly to Williams, the Reds have placed a £15m price tag on Nat Phillips.
Liverpool's intention has been to cash in on the 25-year-old this summer on the back of his successful loan spell at Bournemouth, which ended with him helping the Cherries earn automatic promotion from the Championship.
The ECHO understands there is a possibility Phillips could yet remain a Liverpool player, however, as the club contemplates loaning the ex-Bolton Wanderers defender back to Bournemouth for a second season. A final decision is yet to be made regarding which option is considered the correct manner in which to proceed.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain - £10m
With only one year remaining on his contract at the club, Liverpool will listen to offers of around £10million for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
The 28-year-old has gradually fallen out of favour at Anfield and failed to make all but one of the club's final eight matchday squads during the 2021/22 Premier League season.
West Ham United are keen on the former Arsenal star, though may first have to offload players of their own before progressing initial interest. A number of additional sides - including at least one from abroad - are monitoring the situation.
