Fans of Manchester United and Liverpool will unite to show their support for Cristiano Ronaldo and his partner Georgina Rodriguez this evening following the tragic loss of their newborn son.
Manchester United have confirmed the Portuguese superstar will miss this evening’s game at Anfield. Ronaldo and his partner announced on Monday evening that their newborn baby son had passed away soon after Rodriguez gave birth to twins, with their daughter surviving.
The pair have received countless messages of support since making the announcement on social media. Some Liverpool fans suggested that supporters should applaud in the seventh minute of tonight's match - a gesture which has now been officially endorsed by the two clubs.

The two teams will also wear black armbands.
A statement on United's website said: "While United and Liverpool share English football's greatest rivalry, there is a deep-rooted respect held between the two clubs and that will be highlighted by the minute’s applause, which was initially suggested by fans of the Merseyside team."
The idea came from a post on a Liverpool fan Facebook page which said: "If you are lucky enough to be attending the game tomorrow evening, then please show a mark of respect to Cristiano Ronaldo and his family by taking part in the round of applause which will be held on the seventh minute. Rivalries should be set aside in heartbreaking circumstances such as these. You'll Never Walk Alone, CR7 Jr."
Ronaldo and Rodriguez made their announcement on Monday evening, writing: "It is with our deepest sadness that we announce the passing of our baby boy. It's the greatest pain any parent can feel. Only the birth of our baby girl gives us the strength to live this moment with some hope and happiness.
"We would like to thank the doctors and nurses for all their expert care and support. We are all devastated at this loss and we kindly ask for privacy at this very difficult time. Our baby boy, you are our angel. We will always love you. Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodriguez."
A number of Ronaldo’s team-mates sent messages of support, while the club sent their condolences as they confirmed the 37-year-old’s absence for this evening’s fixture. "Family is more important than everything and Ronaldo is supporting his loved ones at this immensely difficult time,” a statement said. “As such, we can confirm that he will not feature in the match against Liverpool at Anfield on Tuesday evening and we underline the family's request for privacy."
