It was supposed to mark a new era, but show one of Live with Kelly and Mark was far from the success bosses were hoping for.
Mark Consuelos joined his wife Kelly Ripa as the married couple became co-hosts following Ryan Seacrest's emotional departure from the morning show after six years last week.
But it appears as though fans aren't quite ready to embrace the new lineup just yet, with some criticising the couple's "painful fake banter".
Letting their feelings be heard on social media, a section of fans hit out at the chemistry - or lack of it - as they hosted their first show together.
Twitter was quickly awash with fierce criticism of the Riverdale star's maiden show with many calling the 52-year-old overbearing.
One disgruntled fan slammed: "Painful... They NEVER say anything of substance...just fake banter," while another savagely wrote: "Yawn."
Others piled the blame on show veteran Kelly for not letting her hubby and new co-host speak during segments.
At one point during the show, they discussed a recent romantic walk in Central Park. However, as Mark got into the story, Kelly quickly interrupted.
"We used to run through the park, but now we're -' he said before Kelly jumped in: "We used to chase each other."
He tried to continue, saying: "We saw some people who we used to see run and they were now also walking."
But again his other half cut in, saying: "It's so funny how, I don't know if it's age or our knees, whatever it is, time. We were big runners but yesterday we weren't even power-walking. Nobody was sweating."

The couple have been married for 27 years and some users claimed a "husband and wife" combo simply "doesn't work".
Another critical viewer penned: "I am so happy to see Mark & Kelly this morning... But Kelly could PLEASE LET HIM TALK....!!! OMG...!
"Let him start and finish a story his way...It's the only way it's going to work."
It's a view that seemed to be echoed by another fan of the show who mocked: "Every time Kelly interrupts Mark, take a shot!"
Despite the influx of negative remarks, there were fans who enjoyed the new lineup, with one user writing: "Loving the replacement live with Kelly & Mark Consuelos he is a perfect choice, bye Ryan."
