Ukraine's Zelensky says he discussed peace efforts, energy ceasefire with Trump
Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Tuesday that he discussed an energy ceasefire and how to end the war with Russia during his meeting with US President Donald Trump. Both were in New York to attend the UN General Assembly.
Talking to the media after a 40-minute meeting with Trump and his team, Zelensky said that Kyiv was ready for any format of the energy ceasefire with Russia, but there had been no discussion of Ukraine unilaterally halting its attacks on Russian refineries.
Zelenskiy reiterated that he was ready to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin at a trilateral meeting with Trump, adding that he hoped that the US would find a way to bring Moscow to any kind of negotiations.

French President Emmanuel Macron called for the world to "stand firm" in the face of "abuse of power" by some countries that he did not name.
"My message is to stand firm. Do not yield to the situation which is developing ... The rhetoric of defeat that is giving way to abuse of power by empires, threatening the sovereignty of some nations," Macron said.

French President Emmanuel Macron said that the situation in the devastated Gaza Strip was a "spectacle that shames us all" as he gave his last speech as France's leader to the UN's showpiece diplomatic week.
"What is our credibility worth if we remain inactive on Gaza? Some claim that peace has been achieved, but this has not opened up humanitarian deliveries. It is a spectacle that shames us all," he said.

French President Emmanuel Macron called for a moratorium on strikes on energy and civilian sites by both Ukraine and Russia.
"We must protect the civilian population, and this is why we'd like to express our support for a double moratorium, a moratorium on strikes on energy and civilian infrastructure," he told the UN General Assembly.
He also called for a moratorium on strikes on commercial grain shipping in the Black Sea that both countries border.
