At 2:30 PM ET on October 6, Marie Claire editors are setting aside our fall trend guides, celebrity style watching, and other everyday responsibilities to watch the marquee event of Paris Fashion Week (and maybe all of fashion month): Matthieu Blazy’s first Chanel fashion show.
This is the final of 15 designer debuts we’ve followed in 2025, and it’s perhaps the longest-awaited of the bunch. Chanel has been designed by the label’s in-house creative team since former creative director Virginie Viard exited in June 2024. Rumors regarding who would take over—and how they’d reinterpret staples like the flap bag and camellia flower—swirled for months. Blazy was plucked from Bottega Veneta in December 2025, and has been quietly working behind-the-scenes on his first collection. All this time later, his vision is finally taking center-stage on the penultimate day of Paris Fashion Week.
