Lionel Messi to expand football empire as he agrees to buy another Spanish club

  • Inter Miami forward Lionel Messi has reached an agreement in principle to become the new owner of Spanish second-tier football club C.D. Eldense by acquiring 100 per cent of its shares from majority shareholder TH Soluciones Group S.A.S.
  • The completion of the takeover remains pending final legal and contractual procedures, due diligence, and mandatory authorisation from Spain's High Council for Sports.
  • If finalised, Eldense will mark the second Spanish club in the 39-year-old's investment portfolio, following his acquisition of fifth-tier side UE Cornella in April.
  • C.D. Eldense currently occupy 20th place in the Segunda Division standings, having successfully risen through Spain's regional divisions in recent years.
  • The business venture coincides with Messi continuing his club career in the United States, having recently announced his retirement from international football following Argentina's World Cup final loss to Spain.
