Linesman who 'elbowed' Liverpool star Andy Robertson returns in big Premier League game

Assistant referee Constantine Hatzidakis will be back in action in the Premier League on Sunday for Manchester United's game with Aston Villa.

It is the first time Hatzidakis will be out on the pitch in England's top flight since being stood down for one round of matches following his clash with Liverpool left-back Andy Robertson.

Hatzidakis appeared to elbow Robertson in the face at half-time of Liverpool's home match against Arsenal on Sunday, April 9, but he was cleared by the FA following an investigation and a chat with the Scotland captain.

The assistant referee returned to action on Saturday as he ran the line during the Championship game between Preston North End and Blackburn Rovers.

He was also VAR assistant for Leeds United vs Leicester City on Tuesday night.

Hatzidakis apologised to Robertson on a Zoom call and the case was dropped after the Reds left-back accepted the explanation.
