- The holdout juror in Lindsay Clancy’s murder trial broke his silence in a video message before a big court hearing on Tuesday.
- A mistrial was declared on Sept. 4 after the jury deadlocked 11 to 1 in favor of acquittal. Clancy's defense team has urged the judge to dismiss the case entirely or investigate the single holdout juror, Michael Desronvil, over claims he refused to apply reasonable doubt laws and violated court rules regarding cellphone use.
- Desronvil said in a video message Tuesday: “I know the whole focus has been on me, but we want to reel everything back and put the focus on the three angels,” meaning the children. “The ones that can’t speak for themselves, the ones that can’t defend themselves and the ones that can’t fight the battle.”
- He went on to thank God for his Catholic faith and the ability to love his daughter, and thanked everyone who supported him during “this difficult situation.”
- His remarks come as Tuesday’s court hearing could decide whether Plymouth County prosecutors will attempt a second trial on first-degree murder charges, opt to pursue lesser charges such as manslaughter, or drop the case completely.
