Ahead of the Easter bank holiday, budget supermarket Lidl has confirmed it will be closing for part of the long weekend. The retailer is expecting a rise in customers over the weekend - and has now revealed the best time to shop to bag a bargain.
The supermarket is gearing up for its ‘biggest Easter ever’ after welcoming almost one million shoppers last Easter weekend.
The news comes after the discounter was named the UK’s ‘fastest growing supermarket’ last month, with sales rising by 25.8 per cent.

Over the bank holiday weekend, stores across England and Wales will be open as normal until 10pm on Good Friday and Saturday.
However, stores will be closed on Easter Sunday, opening again between 8am and 8pm on the bank holiday Monday. That said, some store opening times may vary and customers are advised to check the store finder on Lidl’s website, for details on their local branch.
Customers are expected to flock to the supermarkets in the coming days to stock up for the long weekend, and to help shoppers snap up the best deals, Lidl is advising its customers about the optimum time to stock up on Easter essentials so that they can plan ahead.
Over the Easter period last year, data found that the quietest times to shop were between 8am and 10am, and from 6pm onwards. Meanwhile, Saturday was the busiest day for shopping, with stores seeing the highest levels of footfall between 10am-1pm, before starting to quieten down in the afternoon.
The retailer has reported that customers have already been stocking up on Lidl’s Easter treats with confectionery sales up 11 per cent on last year.
What’s more is that shoppers who have the Lidl Plus app can bag a free Easter egg - but they’ll have to be quick. Until Wednesday, April 5, customers can claim one free Favorina Easter treat when spending over £25 in a single shop.
Further information about store opening times and other offers and promotions can also be found on the app.
