Liam Rosenior reveals Reece James latest in new Chelsea injury update

Chelsea will make a late call on whether Reece James is fit to return from illness for their FA Cup tie at Hull on Friday.

James has missed the last three games due to a mixture of injury and illness.

The Chelsea captain suffered a minor knock that kept him out of matches against Arsenal and Wolves before going down with illness ahead of Tuesday’s 2-2 draw with Leeds.

James was again not in the squad for the Leeds game but was back in light training on Wednesday, despite still being under the weather.

Asked whether James could feature against Hull, Liam Rosenior said: “Reece trained modified [today]. He’s still under the weather.

“We’ll make a decision tomorrow but it’s good that he’s back on the training pitch. He’s had a really bad bug but hopefully he recovers."

Chelsea are still waiting to learn the full extent of the hamstring injury suffered by Marc Cucurella against Leeds.

Rosenior said: "Marc is too early to know. Obviously he is definitely out for the game against Hull. We’re doing our scans and assessments.”
