Liam Rosenior has insisted that there is “nothing concrete” in rumours linking him with the vacant managerial position at Chelsea.

The top job at Stamford Bridge is open after Enzo Maresca’s shock exit on New Year’s Day, and Rosenior, the former Brighton defender and current Strasbourg manager, is the leading candidate to take over the reins in west London.

The 41-year-old cut an emotional figure after Strasbourg’s 1-1 draw with Nice in Ligue 1, with the Englishman’s side seventh in the French top tier.

Last term, he led them to a seventh-placed finish, and they qualified for the Europa Conference League, where they have played Crystal Palace this season.

Rosenior masterminded a 2-1 win for the French side back in November, and his work across the Channel has impressed the BlueCo hierarchy, who also oversee Strasbourg.

Asked about a potential move to Chelsea, Rosenior replied: "I know nothing more.

“There is nothing concrete. I don't know what will happen. I love this club more than many people think. These are the 18 best months of my professional life."

Pressed on his future, Rosenior admitted that he did not know if he had taken charge of his last game in Alsace-Lorraine.

"It's a very beautiful city, with very beautiful people, and a great club,” he continued.

“I loved everything. The players were incredible. I really want the best for this club. I don't know if this is my last match. In life, you never know."

"Strasbourg is a fantastic club with fantastic people. I loved everything about it. I adored all the players, the fans and everyone here."
