Following the tragic death of Liam Payne at 31, fans have slammed US entertainment site TMZ for publishing photos of the singer’s body.
The controversial celebrity news outlet reportedly obtained and shared images of the scene, claiming to have matched tattoos on the deceased man’s body to Payne’s.
The decision to publish the images has been met with widespread backlash from fans, with many calling it a gross invasion of privacy and a disrespectful act towards the late singer and his grieving loved ones.
Payne leaves behind a young son, Bear Grey Payne, who is just seven years old.
One fan tweeted, “Can’t fathom what it must be like to learn of a loved one’s death via push notification, or of photos of their body published on tabloid media.”
Another said, “TMZ posting part of a photo of Liam Payne’s dead body in an article announcing his death is beyond deplorable.”
Many others have taken to the internet to express their shock at Payne’s sudden death.
“So upsetting to hear the news of Liam Payne passing. Sending love and condolences to his family and loved ones. RIP my friend,” Paris Hilton wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
“I am in shock right now. Liam was always so kind to me. he was one of the first major artists I got to work with. i can not believe he is gone…” said fellow musician Charlie Puth on his Instagram Story.
As the story continues to unfold, authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding Payne’s fall from the third floor of the Casa Sur Palermo Hotel in Buenos Aires.
