Lexi McDavid, 12, to be remembered at 'beautiful' vigil after tragic death

A "beautiful" vigil will be held to honour the memory of Lexi McDavid, 12, who died after being hit by a van.

Lexi died after being hit by a white Mercedes van as she got off a bus on Princess Drive in Huyton on Tuesday, June 7. Emergency services were called to the scene, at around 3.30pm, and Lexi was rushed to Alder Hey Children's Hospital where she died a short time later.

Bouquets of flowers, candles and written tributes have been left at the scene of the crash on Princess Drive. One of the tributes, written on a wooden box filled with white and pink roses, reads: "Love you baby girl. Miss you so much Angel."

Now, A&E Entertainment have organised for a "beautiful" vigil to take place, with the permission of her mum and dad, to honour her life. The event will take place in Huyton Village outside Iceland Supermarket between 6pm and 8pm on Wednesday, June 22.

The event will include a minutes applause for the 12-year-old, live performances and speeches from Lexi's family. There will also be photo opportunities with LOL mascots and Princess Belle.

Anthony Goudie from A&E Entertainment said: "This has taken a lot of work to organise and put together to create a special memory for Lexi's family. We ask the public to respect our staff and to NOT bring alcohol or you will be escorted off site.

"We ask the public to respect Lexi's family at this difficult time. We also ask that people attend and bring cash with them to donate into the buckets our staff will provide.

"Kids are welcome as we have many special guests attending. Lexi McDavid... this one is for you, this is your night."

Donation buckets will be provided at the event and two donation pages are online from both the mum and dad's side of the family.
