Lewis Capaldi enjoys spot of golf in St Andrews ahead of Glastonbury gig

Lewis Capaldi seems to be taking in some of the tourist hotspots of his homeland ahead of his big Glastonbury gig this weekend.

The Scots singer was down with his family for a visit in Gatehouse of Fleet in Dumfries and Galloway at the start of the week as we reported he'd sent a sweet message to residents of the town ahead of their annual Gala Week.

And today he's at the home of golf, enjoying some down time on the famous course at St Andrews.

Staff at golf shop Auchterlonies of St Andrews swung into action when they spotted their megastar customer having a browse on Wednesday afternoon and they got a snap of him on their doorstep. They shared the picture with the caption: "@lewiscapaldi paid us a visit this morning! “We Wish You The Best” for your round today Lewis and from all at Auchterlonies thank you for your custom."

Lewis, 26, has taken a break from performing recently ahead of his Glastonbury set on Sunday. The West Lothian star's mental health struggles are well documented after his tell-all Netflix documentary which was released earlier this year followed his super fast rise to worldwide fame and his increasing anxiety while he created second album Broken by Desire to Be Heavenly Sent, which shot to number one when it was released in May.

Lewis penned a lengthy and emotional statement announcing he would be taking a break from live performances to protect his mental health until Glastonbury following a huge American tour just before the summer.

Lewis told fans he needed to take time out to recover from the gruelling tour and promotional schedule following the release of his new album. "Hi everyone, hope you're well," he addressed fans on Instagram.

"This is a really difficult message and one that hurts me a lot to have to type, but I'm really sorry to say that I am going to have to cancel all commitments from now until I play Glastonbury on June 24. It's been such an incredible time leading into this new album, and seeing all the support from everyone has been beyond I could have ever dreamed of."

He explained: "That said, the last few months have been full on both mentally and physically, I haven't been home properly since Christmas and at the moment I am struggling to get to grips with it all.

"I need to take a moment to rest and recover, to be at my best and ready for Glastonbury, and all of the other incredible shows coming up so that I'm able to continue doing what I love for a long time to come.

"I need to take these three weeks to be Lewis from Glasgow for a bit, spend some time with my family and friends and do normal life things that are an important part of me feeling better. I hope everyone understands."
