A stunning poppy display has appeared in the heart of Ayr.
A grassy verge has been emblazoned with prints of the iconic flower ahead of Remembrance Day next week.
The work has been carried out at the former Burns House site.
Council gardeners made handy work of the display, with the bright red poppies facing onto the main road at the former place of the local authority hub, which was demolished last year.
The war-hero tribute has been met with positivity in the town with residents praising crews for the display.
One resident commented: “I drove by yesterday and it looks absolutely stunning. Well done to South Ayrshire Council.”
Ayr MSP Siobhan Brown shared the images on her Facebook, commenting: “A wonderful piece of art #lestweforget.”
The poppy is a symbol used to pay tribute to those who fought during the First World War and to honour thousands of armed forces members who have been involved in conflicts that followed.
It comes ahead of Remembrance Day also known as Armistice Day on Friday, November 11 where a national minute's silence will be held at 11am.
A spokesperson for South Ayrshire Council said: “To mark Remembrance this year, our Grounds Maintenance and Culture and Events team have transformed the former Burns House site with poppies.
“Remembrance Day on Friday 11 November provides us with an opportunity to honour the valiant efforts of those who fought during the First World War; pay tribute to the thousands of veterans who have been involved in conflicts since 1918; and those who continue to protect our communities by serving in the Armed Forces and emergency services. Lest we forget.”
