Length of time I'm A Celebrity campmates need to stay for their full pay

I'm A Celebrity cuts stars' pay if they don't meet the minimum time required in the jungle.

ITV forks out hundreds of thousands of pounds for its campmates every year, so watching them leave prematurely is often a nightmare for producers. Several stars have tapped out within just 72 hours of arriving in the jungle despite a hefty package enticing them to stay.

Love Island star Olivia Attwood was forced to exit this year's show because of medical issues. Despite her short time on the show, a spokesperson told the Mirror she would still receive her pay of an estimated £125,000 in full.

The spokesperson said: "Olivia wanted to continue and because it was the medical team's decision she has done nothing wrong and so should be in line to get paid."

Though Olivia is lucky enough to be paid in full, past situations have forced ITV to be tough with campmates by limiting their take-home pay based on how long they stay.

The stars will need to stay in the jungle for 72 hours in order to receive the money in full. A cut would be put in place if the celebrities left any earlier than this.

The rule came into play back in 2014 when TOWIE star Gemma Collins dropped out after only three days in the jungle. It was revealed the early exit cost her a chunk of her pay but she donated what she did receive to charity.

At the time, her rep said: "I can confirm that the £4,800 fee was the full and final fee that Gemma received for her participation in last year’s I’m A Celebrity. The show is three weeks long and Gemma was in Australia for five days, therefore she will receive a percentage based on that."
