Nottingham boxer and Forest fan Leigh Wood will ‘dig his heels in’ to fight his next bout at the City Ground after revealing talks with promoter Eddie Hearn.
The 34-year-old gained revenge on opponent Mauricio Lara on Saturday night. The first meeting between the two saw Wood fall to a seventh round stoppage back in February.
But the rematch at Manchester’s AO Arena saw Wood come out victorious by a unanimous points decision. The judges scored it 118-109, 116-111 and 118-109 in Woods’ favour to see him regain the WBA featherweight title.

The Nottinghamshire hero is now clear on where he wants his next fight to take place
"I'll dig my heels in to get it," he told BBC Radio Nottingham .
"I'll be 35 by the next time I box and I want that City Ground fight - it's my dream."
He has also revealed that one of the first things he talked about with promoter Eddie Howe following his win over Lara was organising a fight at the City Ground.
"I've said to Eddie that I've had a fairy tale career and I want the City Ground," he added.
"That's all that is on my radar to be honest."
In the post-fight press conference, Hearn confirmed the ambitions by saying "everyone wants to do it".
However, the logistics of when a fight could take place could make it ‘difficult’, given the timings of the 2023/24 Premier League season, when Forest will be using the stadium.
"I want to do it, I think there is a few quid in it," Hearn added."If he didn't do it in September or October, he could do it early next summer."
