Leigh Griffiths to make Scottish football return for Hibs as he signs up for special cause

Leigh Griffiths is making a return to Scottish football as the former Celtic man continues his search for a new club.

The frontman has been without a club since a short spell at Australian side Mandurah City, but will get his boots back on for one game at Hibs' Easter Road next month. The 32-year-old will get the chance to play in Leith during charity fundraiser 'The Match', which will feature a Sauzée Select XI taking on a Hanlon Stevenson Foundation (HSF) side in a bid to raise money for the foundation.

Griffiths appeared a 261 times for Celtic in all competitions over eight seasons, netting 123 goals for the Parkhead club. He made 78 appearances for Hibs while on loan from Wolves and with spells at Livingston and Dundee as well as a short stint at Falkirk, the striker may be looking to tick another Scottish club off the list. He currently training with Premiership side Livingston alongside Dylan McGeouch as the pair continue their hunt for a new home. But next up is the charity game dubbed 'Le Match' which will take place at Easter Road on November 20, KO 3pm.

Franck Sauzée will miss the game due to health grounds, with Gary O'Connor and Derek Riordan among the stars set to appear alongside Griffiths.

Ahead of the fundraiser, organisers said: "We hope to see as many supporters at Easter Road as possible on the day to enjoy an afternoon of entertaining football and a trip down memory lane – while raising much-needed funds in the process for some great causes. This will include ensuring children who need a helping hand are able to enjoy a better Christmas and assisting low-income families and elderly groups ahead of the winter months."
