Leigh Griffiths bagged a crucial brace for Mandurah City as the Aussie minnows got over their first defeat in sixteen games.
The former Celtic and Hibs striker was on target after sealing a move to Mandurah when he previously admitted he thought his career to be over. Griffiths has impressed for the lower league outfit but they did suffer an end to their long-unbeaten run last week. Yet the 32-year-old was back at it against Freemantle City FC and notched up two goals on his return.
Griffiths had previously not opened his account in his second spell under Scottish coach and ex-St Mirren and Falkirk John Baird. First the forward found himself at the back post to open the scoring with a volley after some poor defending.

That was before the former Scotland international slotted home a penalty to give Mandurah breathing space, while the game eventually ended 3-2 in the home side's favour.
It's only their third game of the season in the Western State League Division but Baird's side are third in the rankings as they look to rely on Griffiths once more ahead of a long season.
