LEGO Skylines Is Basically Cities: Skylines With LEGO — Why Does That Combination Make So Much Sense?

Of all the strange video-game collaborations Gamescom could have produced, LEGO Skylines might be one of the least surprising once you actually think about it. LEGO is about putting individual pieces together until they become something much larger. City builders are about doing almost exactly the same thing. Announced at Gamescom Opening Night Live on August 25, LEGO Skylines is a new standalone city-building game developed by Iceflake Studios and published by Paradox Interactive, coming to Steam, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2 — with no release date announced yet (Paradox Interactive/Cision).

It isn't from "the original creators of Cities: Skylines" exactly — that would be Colossal Order, which parted ways with Paradox in November 2025. Iceflake Studios, a Paradox-owned developer based in Tampere, Finland, took over all development of Cities: Skylines II at the start of 2026 and has years of management-game experience of its own — meaning Paradox is now entrusting the studio with both its main Skylines franchise and this new LEGO city-builder. Paradox is also explicit that this is a standalone game — not Cities: Skylines DLC, and not Cities: Skylines III.
