Matheus Cunha's second-half equaliser rescued a point for Manchester United at Leeds as one of English football's bitterest rivalries finished in a 1-1 draw at Elland Road.
Cunha fired his side level just three minutes after Brenden Aaronson had put Leeds in front and despite coming under late pressure the visitors held on to remain unbeaten in the league against their Roses rivals since 2002.
Leeds hit the post through Dominic Calvert-Lewin's first-half header and will be frustrated not to have ended their 23-year wait for a league win against the Red Devils.
But Daniel Farke's side extended their unbeaten run to seven matches and climbed eight points clear of the relegation zone, while Ruben Amorim's under-pressure side missed the chance to climb into the top four.

Bizarre Ruben Amorim comments spark fresh doubt in Man United soap opera
16:51 , Chris WilsonNot even a boring and fairly eventless draw brings about a day of little drama for Manchester United, it seems.
It was a point gained for Leeds United in their quest to stay in the Premier League and two dropped for their rivals' pursuit of European football, but well after full-time, another story emerged in the Elland Road media room which could suggest all is not well behind the scenes at Old Trafford.
While the game lacked entertainment, the bizarre press conference afterwards by Ruben Amorim brought a plot twist.

Ruben Amorim gives Man United injury update on Bruno Fernandes and Mason Mount
17:00 , Chris WilsonManchester United manager Ruben Amorim offered an update on the injury status of Bruno Fernandes and Mason Mount after the draw to Leeds, with the Portuguese suggesting he hopes to have the duo available in midweek.
Mount and Fernandes were among eight senior players who were unavailable for the trip to Elland Road, with the United captain having suffered a thigh problem in the loss to Aston Villa before Mount was forced off against Newcastle on Boxing Day.
A depleted United side still managed to grab a 1-1 draw at Elland Road despite going behind, with Matheus Cunha cancelling out an opener from Brenden Aaronson, and Amorim said after the game that he would “expect to have some minutes” from Fernandes and Mount next time out.

Matheus Cunha equaliser earns Man Utd a draw at Leeds
15:38 , Chris WilsonMatheus Cunha cancelled out Brenden Aaronson’s strike as Ruben Amorim’s Manchester United and rivals Leeds fought out a tense 1-1 draw at rocking Elland Road.
Daniel Farke’s promoted side came into Sunday lunchtime’s encounter on a six-game unbeaten run but with two days’ less rest than their cross-Pennine enemies.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin hit the post in the first half and Leeds began to dream of a first Premier League win against their arch-rivals since September 2002 when Aaronson slammed home after the break.

Amorim: 'Everyone needs to focus on United'
15:20 , Chris WilsonHere’s more from Ruben Amorim:
“If you look at Ayden [Heaven] and Leny [Yoro] they are young, but it was not because if that [that Leeds scored]. If you play so well and have a msitake, that can happen. These things are going to happen, we had chances to score the second and nobody would be talking about their goal.
“Josh [Zirkzee] played well, Ben [Sesko] connects well, Ugarte is playing better, showing he has more to give. If these guys play well we always have a chance to win the game.
On transfers and moves away from the club, the Portuguese adds: “Everyone needs to focus on United, this is one of the best clubs in the world. If you are here and focusing on another club, something is wrong with you.
“Just focus on the game, prepare with the players we have. I expect to have some minutes from Bruno [Fernandes], Mount maybe. We’ll see,” he adds as he finishes.

Amorim: 'We controlled the game'
15:10 , Chris WilsonMan Utd boss Ruben Amorim is last to speak to TNT.
“I think we played well, we had more control in this game than we showed against Wolves. That is important, you can work with the mistakes we made,” he explains.
We controlled them quite well, they’re a team that is good in set-pieces and second balls. We had a lot of chances to win the game, we are losing on details. We controlled the game.
“We managed to get back on the game, last year it would have been different. It was a good game but I’m frustrated not to win.
Cunha: 'We need to keep improving'
15:00 , Chris WilsonMan Utd goalscorer Matheus Cunha had this to say to TNT:
"After the game against Wolves it was a little bit sad for us. Of course we want to win every single game, and then have a big opportunity to get into the top four.
"We need to keep going. After the draw, to come here isn't easy, we know how big this game is for everyone. But it is good to get a point here.
"It was so hard. We know what to expect, of course for them they try to do everything to win. It's hard, a lot of physical, but every single game when we wear this shirt we have to give it all, and today was no different."
On his equaliser, he added: "It's very important to go again after they score. We tried to do everything to win this game, and we hope the next one comes with three points.
"When everyone is here, we have everyone to create with me and create a lot of good things. We need to keep improving and try again in the next one."
More from Farke
14:50 , Chris WilsonHere’s more from Daniel Farke:
On his subs, he says: “It was risky because you could feel the load from the last few weeks, but the gut feeling was we wanted to go for it. It was the right call, and we nearly won the game.
“The boys are fantastic, the professional side is second to none. Physically we go over the line, and to be competitive in each and every Premier League game is always a good sign.
“The clinical edge could have been better but we are on a good path.Right now we have to recover smart, another midweek game, so let’s hope one or two players will come back.
“Ampadu will come back, that’s a positive. We want to invest everything and try everything [in the match versus Newcastle].”

Farke: 'We could’ve taken all three points'
14:45 , Chris WilsonLeeds boss Daniel Farke has been speaking to TNT Sports after full-time. Here’s what he had to say:
“If you play Man Utd as a newly promoted side it’s always a good point. Probably not our best game today, a few players were out, a bit tired today.
“We could’ve taken all three points, but if I calm down it’s probably a fair result. It’s a good point, another on our tally, and extends the gap a little bit.
“We needed to play with fire in the heart but cool in the heads. It’s the most important game of the last three years! It was important to find a good balance,” he added.

FULL-TIME! Leeds 1-1 Manchester United
14:30 , Chris WilsonThat result takes Leeds further from the relegation zone, with the hosts now eight points above 18th-placed West Ham in 16th.
Man Utd are now in fifth, one point above Chelsea and two behind Liverpool (who both have a game in hand).
FULL-TIME! Leeds 1-1 Manchester United
14:27 , Chris Wilson

FULL-TIME! Leeds 1-1 Manchester United
14:24 , Chris WilsonLeeds applied all the pressure at the end but the referee eventually blows the final whistle, and the points are shared at Elland Road.
It’s a game that lacked quality across the board really, with both sides fairly poor in almost all phases. It did make for an entertaining show this afternoon though!
Leeds 1-1 Manchester United
14:22 , Chris Wilson90 +3 mins: Leeds break and they have the man advantage on the counter but Nmecha loses it on the outside of the box!
Leeds 1-1 Manchester United
14:20 , Chris Wilson90 +2 mins: Pinball in the box from the corner but the hosts can’t get a clean shot away as Piroe’s effort is blocked.
At the other end, Shaw fires a cross that is eventually cleared for a throw.
Leeds 1-1 Manchester United
14:19 , Chris Wilson90 mins: Four minutes of added time to be played here.
Leeds want a penalty as Cunha blocks the cross partly with his arm, but he’ll get away with it as it came off his leg first.
Corner for the hosts!
Leeds 1-1 Manchester United
14:17 , Chris Wilson88 mins: CLOSE! What a contribution this would have been!
Leeds counter and they find themselves 4-v-3 in attack, with the ball spread wide to Piroe before the Dutchman curls a first-time effort that clips the top of the netting as it goes over!
Leeds 1-1 Manchester United
14:15 , Chris Wilson86 mins: Another attacking change from the hosts as Joel Piroe comes on for Aaronson.
Leeds 1-1 Manchester United
14:13 , Chris Wilson84 mins: A nice flick from Calvert-Lewin in the box almost opens up the space for a chance for Leeds, but the visitors scramble it clear.
At the other end, Dorgu can’t get past his marker but the visitors come again.

Leeds 1-1 Manchester United
14:10 , Chris Wilson82 mins: OFF THE POST! A first-time effort from Cunha almost catches Perri out as his near post, but it bounces off the woodwork!
Leeds 1-1 Manchester United
14:09 , Chris Wilson80 mins: Leeds bring off Gruev and Bornauw for Wilfried Gnonto and Ao Tanaka.
Attacking subs from Farke, who is certainly looking to win this one!
The visitors have had the better of the last few minutes but the hosts can sense a chance.
Leeds 1-1 Manchester United
14:07 , Chris Wilson79 mins: Noah Okafor just made way for Lukas Nmecha and now Leeds are readying more subs.
Yet another through ball to Sesko is inches away from creating a chance, though this time Perri is alert to it and rushes oiff his line to clear.
Leeds 1-1 Manchester United
14:05 , Chris Wilson77 mins: Another potential opening wasted as Zirkzee can’t get the right amount of power on a clipped ball over to Sesko. The Slovenian had plenty of space to run into there too.
Leeds 1-1 Manchester United
14:03 , Chris Wilson74 mins: CLOSE! Again, Sesko will feel he should have scored.
It all starts with Zirkzee – who has been bright since he came on – with the Dutchman combining well with Sesko in midfield before spreading it wide to Cunha.
The Brazilian finds him with the return pass in the box and Zirkzee cuts back a great ball towards Sesko, but the striker fires wide with his first-time effort at the near post.
Leeds 1-1 Manchester United
14:01 , Chris Wilson72 mins: Another wasted opening for the visitors as Dorgu cant find Sesko. It looks like both sides are readying some more subs.
Leeds 1-1 Manchester United
13:58 , Chris Wilson69 mins: SAVE! Neither side has really settled since that equaliser, though it’s Leeds who push forward and Okafor forces a great save from Lammens.
The Leeds man fires a bicycle kick that looks destined for the bottom corner but the Belgian gets across to claw it away.
GOAL! Leeds 1-1 Manchester United
13:55 , Chris Wilson66 mins: GOAL! The visitors have an equaliser almost right away!
Matheus Cunha has the goal after an inch-perfect through ball from Zirkzee, who has just come on but was aware enough to thread the pass through for the assist.
It put Cunha 1-v-1 with Perri and he squeezed a low finish through as the ‘keeper came off his line.
The lead lasted two minutes and 54 seconds.

Leeds 1-0 Manchester United
13:53 , Chris Wilson65 mins: The visitors have responded to that goal with a sub right away. Joshua Zirkzee has come on for Leny Yoro.
GOAL! Leeds 1-0 Manchester United
13:51 , Chris Wilson62 mins: GOAL! The deadlock has beeb broken and it’s Brenden Aaronson with the opener!
It’s a disaster for the visitors too, as a long searching ball from the hosts is misjudged by Heaven before Aaronson latches onto it and drives into the box before firing a low shot across Lammens and into the bottom corner!

Leeds 0-0 Manchester United
13:47 , Chris Wilson59 mins: Both sides had the upper hand at different points in the first half but it’s definitely Leeds who have been the better of the two in the opening 15 minutes of the second half.
The visitors are struggling to keep possession at the moment, and have barely been out of their half in the last five minutes or so.
Leeds 0-0 Manchester United
13:44 , Chris Wilson56 mins: Yoro has been tested by Okafor a couple of times already thoss half, with the Leeds winger winning another corner.
The set-piece comes in and Lammens does well to divert the ball away from Calvert-Lewin, who was arriving at the back post.
Leeds 0-0 Manchester United
13:42 , Chris Wilson54 mins: Sesko will be thankful he was offside there. He’s unmarked to get on the end of Casemiro’s ball in but he heads well wide of the target.
Leeds 0-0 Manchester United
13:40 , Chris Wilson52 mins: The visitors counter from that throw, with Ugarte winning the ball well on the edge of the box, but the chance goes begging as Dorgu lays it back off to the Uruguayan and he fizzes an effort wide of the far post.
Leeds 0-0 Manchester United
13:39 , Chris Wilson50 mins: A short spell of Man Utd possession ends without a chance created, before the hosts go down the other end and win another long throw.
The ball from the throw bounces back to Gudmundsson as he lashes a shot towards the near post that Lammens saves well.
Leeds 0-0 Manchester United
13:35 , Chris Wilson47 mins: Leeds are getting on the ball early on in this half, putting a little pressure on the visitors before a long throw evades everyone in the box and Martinez clears.
KICK-OFF! Leeds 0-0 Manchester United
13:32 , Chris WilsonWe’re underway once more at Elland Road! What does this second half have in store for both sides?
HALF TIME! Leeds 0-0 Manchester United
13:27 , Chris WilsonIt’s certainly there to be won for both sides, with chances at both ends in that first half. Can either team produce those final moments of quality though?
We’ll be back underway shortly.
HALF TIME! Leeds 0-0 Manchester United
13:18 , Jamie BraidwoodAlmost all of the added time was taken up by Perri taking his goal kick.
It’s goalless. It’s been fiery. Both teams have had chances. Calvert-Lewin headed against the post and then Yoro forced a super stop from Perri from close range, also with a header.
Earlier, Cunha saw a volley ruled out because of an offside, and Calvert-Lewin blasted over.
Leeds 0-0 Manchester United
13:16 , Jamie Braidwood45 mins: It’s been a decent half, though both teams have lacked the final product. Speaking of, Dorgu does well to work the chance after driving inside, but the shot flashes wide of the post.
There will be one minute of added time.
Leeds 0-0 Manchester United
13:11 , Jamie Braidwood40 mins: SAVE! Super stop from Perri! It comes from a Manchester United corner as Leny Yoro flicks on Casemiro’s initial header. But the goalkeeper tips it over the bar.
Cunha thrashes the volley over from the resulting corner.

Leeds 0-0 Manchester United
13:10 , Jamie Braidwood35 mins: OFF THE POST! Calvert-Lewin comes so close to the opening goal!
Daniel Farke has his hands over his mouth and he expected that to crash in! It was an excellent delivery from the right and Calvert-Lewin was sharp in making the run across goal, but his header smashes against the post as he flicked it on.
So close to continuing his scoring run.
Leeds 0-0 Manchester United
13:05 , Jamie Braidwood33 mins: Good grief Patrick Dorgu came flying in there on Calvert-Lewin. Full steam ahead. That’s one of the easiest bookings referee Jarred Gillett will need to show all season.
Leeds 0-0 Manchester United
13:03 , Jamie Braidwood32 mins: Aaaronson is finding room behind Casemiro and Ugarte but he drags a shot wide after breaking forward. Lammens then takes plenty of time restarting play from the goalkick.
Leeds 0-0 Manchester United
13:01 , Jamie Braidwood31 mins; Another corner for Manchester United as Dalot gets on the overlap and Bijol blocks the cross.
The chance falls to Dalot, too, from Martinez’s pull-back. Dalot skies the chance, leaning back all the way.
Leeds 0-0 Manchester United
12:59 , Jamie Braidwood27 mins: This is starting to open up a bit after a scrappy start. As Leeds pressed, there was suddenly room for Dorgu to chase in behind but Casemiro, I think, overhit the pass.
Leeds 0-0 Manchester United
12:56 , Jamie Braidwood25 mins: There’s tangle between Calvert-Lewin and Martinez as Manchester United look to try and deal with the corner. A bit of pulling, a bit of handball. Hard to judge who from. The referee waves play on.
Leeds 0-0 Manchester United
12:55 , Jamie Braidwood24 mins: Oooooh. Excellent challenge from Heaven in the box as he slid in on Justin. That had a penalty written all over it but Heaven won the ball.
Leeds 0-0 Manchester United
12:53 , Jamie Braidwood22 mins: Cunha swings in a cross from the corner, with Shaw tasked with blocking Perri. The Leeds goalkeeper appeals for a foul and - surprise, surprise - he gets it.
Leeds 0-0 Manchester United
12:51 , Jamie Braidwood20 mins: Given the absences and the atmosphere at Elland Road before kick-off, it’s been a decent start from Manchester United. They’ve seen off the opening storm.
That said, Shaw is required to make a big header at the back post as Gudmundsson hung one in.
Leeds 0-0 Manchester United
12:48 , Jamie Braidwood16 mins: A small opening for Sesko on the edge of the box but it quickly closes before he can get a shot away.
Leeds 0-0 Manchester United
12:46 , Jamie Braidwood14 mins: Cunha is going to have be central if Manchester United are to avoid a defeat today. The Brazilian links up with Shaw, who thinks he is fouled as he goes down under the challenge of Aaronson.
Leeds 0-0 Manchester United
12:42 , Jamie Braidwood11 mins: Will someone get their foot on the ball? Plenty of long punts, second balls and scraps for possession so far.
Leeds 0-0 Manchester United
12:40 , Jamie Braidwood9 mins: CHANCE! Aaronson skips away from Casemiro on the edge of the box and feeds Calvert-Lewin. It’s a hard chance, with the angle closing for Calvert-Lewin, and you wouldn’t blame him for taking it on given his form. But he pokes it over in going for the near post.

NO GOAL! Leeds 0-0 Manchester United
12:39 , Jamie Braidwood7 mins: WOW! A flash from Cunha and the ball is in the net! But as soon as his crisp volley flies in, the offside flag goes up! Indeed, Seskso was offside from the goal-kick from Lammens.
VAR confirms it.

Leeds 0-0 Manchester United
12:37 , Jamie Braidwood6 mins: The first effort of the game and a strange one at that. Manchester United throw the ball into the box and it falls to Manuel Ugarte on the edge. He tries to beat goalkeeper Perri with a header from 18 yards but it drifts over.
Leeds 0-0 Manchester United
12:36 , Jamie Braidwood4 mins: Leeds are up for this. There’s a roar as Gruev slides in to a midfield challenge and then as Cunha is forced into losing the ball out of the wing.
Leeds 0-0 Manchester United
12:33 , Jamie Braidwood2 mins: Lammens has the low winter sun directly in his eyes as Leeds launch an early long throw into the box. Manchester United clear.
Leeds 0-0 Manchester United
12:31 , Jamie Braidwood1 mins: Boos accompany Senne Lammens hitting long from kick-off. Patrick Dorgu is playing as the right-sided No 10 behind Benjamin Sesko.
KICK OFF! Leeds 0-0 Manchester United
12:30 , Jamie Braidwood“Marching on together” gets a healthy belting in the Leeds sunshine.
And we’re off! Let’s see what formation Manchester United are playing...
The atmosphere is crackling at Elland Road
12:28 , Jamie BraidwoodHere we go! There’s glorious sunshine at Elland Road and a real sense of anticipation. What an opportunity this is for Leeds against a depleted Manchester United side to claim not only a first Premier League win against their old foes since 2002, but also to stretch their lead over Nottingham Forest and West Ham to 10 points!
Kick-off is next.

Can Leeds keep up scoring streak?
12:19 , Jamie BraidwoodLeeds have scored nine goals in their last three home games, with two against Chelsea, three against Liverpool and four against Crystal Palace.
Dominic Calvert Lewin had one ruled out for offside against Liverpool at Anfield, but had scored seven goals in eight Premier League appearances before then.
Ruben Amorim: 'We don't have a lot of options'
12:09 , Jamie BraidwoodRuben Amorim speaking to TNT Sports.
On his team line-up: “I was just thinking about what we are going to face today, trying to get the team comfortable to win the game. We don't have a lot of options, but we are ready to to be competitive.”
On fixing the issues against Wolves: “It's just one day, but then if you see the game, we have more than opportunities to win the game.
“We have some chances, but of course when you lose so many creative players, you are going to to have problems, but new week, new game, and new opponents, we'll see.”
On the rivalry with Leeds: “Everyone in the club talks about that, but I need to focus on what I can change, what I can help the players inside the pitch, outside the pitches for the fans, and it's healthy to have this kind of environment in in football.”

Leeds United's last win over old foes Manchester United
11:59 , Jamie BraidwoodYou’ve got to go back to January 2010 and Jermaine Beckford’s winner at Old Trafford for Leeds United’s last win over their old foes in the FA Cup third round.
Leeds were still in the Championship then, of course, and their last Premier League win against Manchester Untied was in September 2002.

Is that a back-four for Manchester United?
11:40 , Jamie BraidwoodI’m not sure what that Manchester United formation is. We’ve got Yoro, Heaven, Martinez, Shaw, and Dalot and Dorgu. Six defenders.
Joshua Zirkzee drops out while Casemiro and Manuel Ugarte start in midfield.
Man Utd XI: Lammens, Yoro, Heaven, Martinez, Dalot, Casemiro,Ugarte, Shaw, Dorgu, Cunha, Sesko
Subs: Bayindir, Zirkzee, Malacia, Fredricson, Jack Fletcher, Tyler Fletcher, Lacey, Mantato, Kukonki.

Two changes for Leeds as Dominic Calvert-Lewin returns
11:25 , Jamie BraidwoodThere are just two changes for Leeds, who keep the defence that shut out Liverpool at Anfield last time out.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Noah Okafor are in for the suspended Ethan Ampadu and Lukas Nmecha.
Leeds XI: Lucas Perri, Bornauw, Bijol, Struijk, Justin, Aaronson,Gruev, Stach, Gudmundsson, Calvert-Lewin, Okafor.
Subs: Darlow,Longstaff, Piroe, Nmecha, Harrison, Tanaka, Byram, Gnonto,Chambers.

Ruben Amorim hints at frustration as he avoids Man Utd transfer talk
09:41 , Jamie BraidwoodRuben Amorim hinted at frustration behind the scenes as the Manchester United head coach refused to clarify his recent comments about the club’s transfer plans.
“I don’t want to talk about that,” Amorim said when asked about his comments. “I just focus on the Leeds game. No, no, no. But I (don’t) want to talk about that.
“I don’t want to talk about that, but you are very smart, so…”

Ruben Amorim hints at frustration as he avoids Man Utd transfer talk
Good morning
09:29 , Jamie BraidwoodLeeds United host Manchester United in the Premier League in what is sure to be a fiery atmosphere as the rivals meet for the first time in almost three years.
Ruben Amorim is under pressure after being held by Wolves at Old Trafford, while the Whites have built a seven-point cushion to the drop zone already.
After frustrating Liverpool at Anfield in a goalless draw, Leeds will hope to pile on the misery for the Red Devils.
A six-game unbeaten streak will give the home crowd confidence, too, in what should be a gripping contest packed with passion from both players and supporters.
