Leeds United transfer rumours as Whites eye MLS left-back, Brereton-Diaz links

Here are the latest Leeds United transfer rumours on Sunday, 14 August.

Interest in left-back

Leeds are weighing up a move for Philadelphia Union left-back Kai Wagner, according to a report from the Daily Mail. The report adds that the 25-year-old, who has also received offers from Dinamo Zagreb and Benfica, could be available at just £2.5m.

Wagner is in the final year of his contract with Philadelphia Union, while his manager Jim Curtin has allegedly confirmed that Leeds have entered talks with the German full-back.

Pascal Struijk is currently deputising as a makeshift left-back while Junior Firpo recovers from a knee injury that has seen him miss the start of the season.

Union fan page Brotherly Game revealed on Twitter: "Curtin says he's talked with Jesse Marsch about Kai Wagner's status. Says that the team would like Wagner to stay, but that Kai would also like to play at the highest level.

"The club is still waiting for official offers to come in. 'Still to be determined kind of situation'."

Brereton-Diaz links

Journalist Dean Jones has claimed that Leeds are 'considering' a move for Blackburn Rovers forward Ben Brereton-Diaz. The rallying cries for Leeds to sign a striker have intensified following Patrick Bamford's latest injury setback in Saturday's 2-2 draw against Southampton.

The Sun reported in July that the Brereton-Diaz would cost £20m after a series of Premier League and La Liga clubs considered the possibility of signing the Chilean international.

Jones told Give Me Sport: "There's a few backup options for them, Brereton Diaz is one of them and he's one they're considering."

Brereton-Diaz had scored just nine times in 88 appearances for Blackburn before the beginning of last season. However, the 23-year-old netted 22 times in 38 games last term and opened his goal scoring account for this season in Blackburn's 3-0 victory at Swansea City on August 6.

The forward has also scored four goals in 15 caps for Chile, although he won't be participating in the 2022 World Cup, after La Roja failed to qualify for back-to-back World Cup finals for the second time since the turn of century.

Camara set for Monaco move

Leeds United target and Red Bull Salzburg midfielder Mohamed Camara is set to move to French side AS Monaco, according to journalist Sebastien Denis.

Dennis claims Leeds failed with a bid of £21.1m but that the 22-year-old is now braced for a move to Monaco for only £12.6m.

The Malian international is a former teammate of Leeds duo Rasmus Kristensen and Brenden Aaronson and joined Red Bull Salzburg in 2020. He has won two Austrian Bundesliga titles and two Austrian Cups during his two-year stint at the Red Bulls.
