Leeds United transfer rumours as Swiss chief squashes '£6m Jude Bellingham' Whites link

Here are the Leeds United transfer rumours and gossip on Friday, January 13.

Swiss chief squashes '£6m Jude Bellingham' Leeds United link

FC Luzern's sporting director has said that it's unlikely star midfielder Ardon Jashari will leave Switzerland in the January transfer window, despite interest from numerous British teams.

Noted by some as a potential 'next Jude Bellingham', Leeds United are reportedly one team looking to secure his services, alongside Championship playoff contenders Middlesbrough and Scottish league leaders Celtic.

However, it's not likely they'll find the deal they want after Sky Germany reported the £6m price tag it'd take for them to pry him away from Luzern.

"I currently don’t think it’s realistic that there will be a transfer with Ardon this winter," Remo Meyer explained earlier this week in an interview with Pilatus Today.

"On the one hand, we have our clear ideas about the transfer fee. On the other hand, (a sale) must also suit the player."

Jashari himself has said that he won't be focusing on the transfer rumours throughout the window, with him solely looking to help his current team do as well as possible.

"I heard about the rumours," the Switzerland international explained last week. "There’s no getting around that. But I’m happy now that I can get back on the pitch to train with the team.

"For me, the focus is clearly on Luzern, so that I can prepare well and without injury. The timing would have to be right for me to decide to switch now."

Leeds United strike Georginio Rutter breakthrough as record £35m 'deal agreed'

Leeds United have struck a deal to make Hoffenheim striker Georginio Rutter their next January transfer addition. That’s according to Fabrizio Romano and The Athletic, who report Rutter is due to land in West Yorkshire for a medical and to finalise the switch before this weekend.

The initial deal is claimed to be in the region of €28m (£24.7m), with add-ons potentially taking the deal to around €40m (£35.3m). The Whites have prioritised the addition of a striker in the January window and they look to have landed Rutter, who seems to be able to play in a number of positions across the front line.

Rutter is still only 20 years of age, but he has established himself as one of the brightest young talents in the Bundesliga and according to a statement released by Hoffenheim last weekend, the Whites weren’t the only club chasing his signature. As such, the deal represents a coup for Leeds and if all goes to plan, he could be in line to make his debut for the club next week against either Cardiff City or Brentford.
