Leeds United transfer rumours as Stuttgart defender links emerge as target set to leave RB Salzburg

Here are your latest Leeds United transfer rumours for Sunday, February 5.

Konstantinos Mavropanos links emerge

Leeds were keen on signing former Arsenal and current VfB Stuttgart centre-back Konstantinos Mavropanos in January.

The Whites sent Spanish defender Diego Llorente on loan to Serie A side AS Roma on transfer deadline day, and were reportedly eying possible replacements.

Bild journalist Christian Falk has revealed in his Caught Offside column that Leeds look likely to sell Llorente if his loan in Rome is a success.

Mavropanos only joined Stuttgart on a permanent basis from Arsenal back in the summer for just £3 million. There are suggestions that the Greek defender is now valued at £13 million.

The 25-year-old played just seven times for Arsenal in the Premier League, and spent two seasons on loan at Stuttgart. He helped them secure promotion back to the Bundesliga in 2021 and scored four goals in 31 games in the top-flight last season. Stuttgart are fighting relegation during the current campaign and are winless in their last four games.

Leeds target Noah Okafor to leave RB Salzburg

Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Noah Okafor is ready and available to leave Red Bull Salzburg in the summer. Okafor has been linked with a move to Leeds on numerous occasions, with Calciomercato reporting in October that AC Milan were set to rival Leeds in the race for his signature.

Romano wrote on his Twitter account: “Noah Okafor, one to watch – understand his plan is to leave and join top league club in the summer.

“English and German clubs wanted Okafor already in January, but the player and his representatives decided to stay until the summer then prepare big move.”

The 22-year-old started his career at FC Basel, before switching to Red Bull Salzburg in 2020. He won two Austrian Bundesliga titles under Leeds boss Jesse Marsch, and has scored 34 goals and provided 21 assists in 101 appearances in total for the Red Bulls.
