Leeds United transfer rumours as Liverpool eye Kalvin Phillips as Man United man linked

Here are the latest Leeds United transfer rumours on Tuesday, June 7.

Two transfer failures lead Liverpool to Phillips pursuit

After missing out on their priority midfield targets, Liverpool look set to join the transfer battle for Kalvin Phillips. Aurelien Tchouameni and Gavi were the two players who were earmarked as top targets but with that pair of young midfielder choosing to play elsewhere, the Reds are looking closer to home, as per Sport.

They join an ever-growing list of teams reportedly interested in Phillips after rumours linking a number of their Premier League rivals have surfaced in the last few weeks and months. On the back of securing top-flight safety, there will still be hope at Leeds of extending his contract after the comments he made during the club’s battle to avoid relegation.

Out-of-favour Man United man linked

In what appears to be a very unlikely transfer story, journalist Ekrem Konur lists Leeds United as one of the clubs showing an interest in Manchester United outcast Phil Jones.

Fulham and Southampton are the other two sides listed as showing an interest in the 30-year-old, who made just four appearances for Leeds' bitter rivals from across the Pennines this season.

Matteo hoped Milner would return to Leeds

Ever since returning to the Premier League, some Whites supporters have been desperate to see James Milner return to Elland Road. Although, that looks almost impossible now as the 36-year-old is closing in on a contract extension at Liverpool, according to The Athletic.

Dominic Matteo, who also knows what it’s like to play for both teams, claims a return to Leeds would have been a great coup for Jesse Marsch. He told the Yorkshire Evening Post : "Every team has become a better team with him around. I can see why Jurgen Klopp is desperate to keep hold of him and I think staying at Liverpool would be the right call, although personally I would be buzzing if he came to Leeds.

"He's exactly what they need - he's a voice, a leader, someone who understands the game. Whenever he steps in, he's a bit like Stuey Dallas, he doesn't change the way he thinks about the game, he just adapts and he can adapt a lot quicker than some people.”
