Leeds United set to face strengthened Nottingham Forest side in Premier League clash

Leeds United return to Premier League action with a trip to the City Ground to take on Nottingham Forest in a crunch Premier League match on Sunday and Steve Cooper's side look set to have bolstered their midfield with the arrival of Jonjo Shelvey.

A win against Forest would see Leeds overtake their opponents - who currently sit three points ahead of them - on goal difference. The Whites are without a league win since November and Jesse Marsch will be under no illusions at how important it is for his side to gather momentum in their bid to move away from a relegation fight.

Forest are unbeaten in their last four top-flight games, noticeably holding Chelsea to a 1-1 draw and beating Leicester City 2-0. Cooper's side have proven they are no pushovers this season and will be looking to show that once again this weekend.

The Whites will have Georginio Rutter and Max Wober at their disposal for the game, with Juventus' Weston McKennie also reported to become the club's third signing in the January window. Forest themselves are no strangers to recruitment to say the least and have added the likes of Danilo and Chris Wood to their ranks this month.

And now Shelvey looks set to be their latest addition, with the Newcastle United midfielder swapping St James' Park for the City Ground after seven years with the Tyneside club.

It is understood that the 30-year-old has been offered a two-and-a-half year deal at Forest, with the former Liverpool and Swansea City star no doubt looking to make an immediate impact when he comes up against Leeds on Sunday afternoon.
