Leeds United’s home clash with Chelsea scheduled for Sunday 17 April will have to be rearranged following the Blues’ 2-0 win at Middlesbrough this evening. Thomas Tuchel’s side secured their passage to the semi-finals of the FA Cup at the Riverside, with those ties pencilled in for the weekend Leeds were set to host them at Elland Road.
It was a largely comfortable evening for Chelsea on Teesside, with goals from Romelu Lukaku and Hakim Ziyech ensuring they will play in the last four of the competition for the third consecutive season. Their opponents this evening were made to look like the Championship side that they are, despite their superb wins over Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur in the previous two rounds.
The date for the rearranged match is set to depend on Chelsea’s progression in the Champions League, with the Blues’ having been drawn against La Liga leaders Real Madrid in the next round. Should they progress to the semi-finals, that would remove their currently free midweeks on the 26 and 27 April, as well as the 3 and 4 May.

Instead, that would mean the game would likely need to be rescheduled for either the penultimate or final week of the season, when Leeds will be hoping their survival is already confirmed. Jesse Marsch’s side face fixtures against Southampton and Watford in their next two prior to the weekend they were set to face Chelsea which will provide them with a huge opportunity to extend their seven-point buffer to the bottom three.
