Leeds United see Championship fixture moved ahead of reunion with familiar face

Leeds United have seen their home fixture with West Bromwich Albion rescheduled. The clash was originally due to be played on August 19, but it has now been selected to be shown live on Sky Sports.

As such, Leeds will now take on the Baggies on Friday, August 18, with the game kicking off at 8pm. The game will be the Whites’ second on home soil this season and it will also be the club’s second outing in front of the cameras, with their opening clash against Cardiff City also due to be shown to a national audience.

United’s home meeting with the West Midlands outfit looks to be their hardest test, on paper, over their opening month and they’ll be keen to make a statement by getting one over a promotion rival early. There’s extra significance to this fixture, too, as Carlos Corberan returns to Elland Road.

Corberan spent three years working with the Whites, taking charge of their youth team and learning from Marcelo Bielsa before leaving to link up with Huddersfield Town in 2020. It will be his first time coming up against his old club as a manager.

He has been linked to the vacant position at Elland Road this summer, but the bookmakers odds would suggest he is now out of the running.

Here are the four Championship games Sky have selected through to show following the opening weekend:

Saturday August 12 – Coventry v Middlesbrough (12.30pm)

Friday August 18 – Leeds United v West Brom (8pm)

Saturday August 19 – Plymouth Argyle v Southampton (12.30pm)

Sunday August 20 – Norwich City v Millwall (12pm)
