Leeds United's 10 Yorkshire derby dates with revenge and bragging rights up for grabs

Leeds United fans won’t have too long to wait for the club’s first of 10 Yorkshire derbies this season. The Whites are scheduled to play host to newly promoted Sheffield Wednesday on September 2 and while that fixture is subject to TV selection, it promises to be a cracker.

The two clubs have a healthy rivalry and the atmosphere is sure to be electric when the newly promoted Owls come to town. Wednesday have spent two seasons in League One since the sides last met but the memory of their dramatic late win at Elland Road in January 2020 will still be fresh.

Leeds will be keen to get one over the South Yorkshire club, who are also without a manager at present. There’s another all-Yorkshire clash to play in September, with Leeds making the journey east to Hull City on the 20th.

It’s the first midweek contest of the season and Liam Rosenior’s side will be up for the challenge of claiming three points against a rival. Neil Warnock will bring his Huddersfield Town side to Elland Road on October 28 and that’s another one that won’t disappoint, especially given who will be in the visitors’ dugout.

The trip to Rotherham United comes on November 25, while Middlesbrough will travel down the A1 to Elland Road on December 2. The trip to the John Smith’s Stadium comes on March 2 at the start of a week that culminates at Hillsborough.

Games against Hull and Middlesbrough feature in what looks to be a punishing run-in, but with promotion in their sights, the Whites will be keen to build up momentum through April ahead of the final game of the season at home to Southampton.
