Here are the latest Leeds United rumours on Friday, 25 February 2022.
Marsch ‘waiting in the wings’
Former Red Bull Leipzig manager Jesse Marsch is reportedly ‘waiting in the wings’ to replace Marcelo Bielsa at Leeds United, according to the Daily Telegraph.
Marsch has been out of work since he his departure from the German outfit in December and is said to be Leeds’ number one target if Bielsa decides to call it a day at Elland Road.
Bielsa never commits to signing a new deal during the midway point of a season however his current contract is set to expire at the end of the season.
The Whites currently find themselves well and truly in the battle to avoid the drop to the Premier League, with just three points separating them from the relegation zone.
Whether Marsch would still accept the job if Leeds do drop to the Championship remains unclear, though.
Fonseca option also emerges
Despite claims Marsch is ‘waiting in the wings’, former Roma manager Paulo Fonseca is also reportedly an option for Leeds United.
That is according to journalist Gianluigi Loncari, who claims that the position of Bielsa is ‘complicated’ and Fonseca is being considered as another potential replacement.
He has been linked with a number of Premier League clubs in recent months, with Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United previously having been interested in his services.
Fonseca has been out of work since leaving Roma in June last year.
