Leeds United rumours as PSV could be forced into selling Cody Gakpo before July 1 2023

Here are the latest Leeds United transfer rumours on Thursday, 6 October 2022.

Gakpo

PSV Eindhoven will be forced into selling one of Cody Gakpo or Ibrahim Sangare before July 1 2023 due to the club’s financial position. That is according to Voetbal International, via Sport Witness, who claim that a big money sale is needed in order to balance the books of the Dutch side.

Leeds made a late play for Gakpo during the summer window but after failing to get a deal over the line, could revisit their interest in January. This latest update could open the door for them to make another move, though if he continues his fine form, competition will be fierce.

Sinisterra

Leeds United winger Luis Sinisterra was on AC Milan’s list of potential Rafael Leao replacements during the summer, according to the Athletic. Sinisterra made the move to Elland Road from Feyenoord back in July after an excellent season in the Eredivisie.

But things could have panned out a whole lot differently for Sinisterra had Leao departed the San Siro. The Portugal international was linked with a number of top European clubs, most notably Chelsea, but no move materialised.

It is thought that the Blues’ interest still remains in Leao and if he does move on in the next 12 months or so, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Milan revisit their interest in Leeds’ star winger.

Appleton

Blackpool manager Michael Appleton was on Leeds United's radar to become Jesse Marsch's assistant manager at Elland Road before taking the job at Bloomfield Road.

The 46-year-old departed his former club Lincoln City at the end of last season, leaving them in League One where they're currently struggling in 15th.

Appleton is now in his second stint with the Seasiders, after managing them back in 2012 where he resigned after just 11 games but nearly arrived at Elland Road according to The Athletic.
