Leeds United news as Wilfried Gnonto hailed for what he did this week

Wilfried Gnonto hailed as a 'special talent'

Dominic Matteo has described Leeds United attacker Wilfried Gnonto as a 'special talent'. Gnonto added to his remarkable start to life at Elland Road with two goals in the Whites' 5-2 victory over Cardiff City in the FA Cup on Wednesday.

Gnonto has notched three goals and one assist in 10 games across all competitions for Leeds this term. The Italian international has received a number of plaudits for his performances of late, and ex-Leeds defender Matteo has emerged as another of his many admirers.

“When Willy hit that ball, obviously I was thinking, ‘wow, how can he do this?’, Matteo said on LUTV.

“Could it be actually that he was hitting it with his right foot and if I am right he is a left footer or is he both? I cannot work out what he is. This kid is a special, special talent and obviously, the more I see of him and the goals he has been scoring, the way he is creating and helping, he is such a danger for other teams as well.”

Jesse Marsch opens up on prospect of managing USA national team

Jesse Marsch has admitted it would be 'an honour to represent his country' but insists that he prefers the 'demanding' nature of club football.

Marsch is one of the most high-profile managers to emerge from the United States in recent years, and previously served as assistant coach of the national team between February 2010 and July 2011.

Although the Leeds United boss says it is a 'phenomenal' feeling to take your country to a World Cup, the American has no intention of leaving Leeds or club football in the near future.

A debut for Rutter?

Georginio Rutter is available to Jesse Marsch and Leeds United for the first time today and all eyes will be on how the American chooses to use the record signing. The head coach and the player have each admitted Rutter is not at 100 per cent, with a benching most likely in the first instance.

With an embarrassment of riches now amassing in the frontline there is not quite the urgency for Rutter to be thrust into action immediately. If he does get on, it will be interesting to see where Marsch uses him across those three positions.
