Leeds scout transfer target
As we get closer to the end of the season and the summer, the transfer rumour mill is starting to turn that little bit quicker and with Leeds closing in on Premier League safety, speculation on who they will bring into the club in the summer is going to intensify. The Whites are expected to make a number of changes to their squad and allow Jessie Marsch to bring in new faces.
One of those areas of recruitment could be at centre-back with Leeds already being linked to a couple of potential candidates, one of those being FC Koln player Timo Hubers. Football Inside say the Whites sent scouts to watch the 25-year-old defender play on Saturday and it's not the first time they've been to watch him.
Hubers is tied down at the Bundesliga club but does have a £6.7m release clause in his contract, with the impressive defender being tracked by a number of clubs across Europe and in the Premier League.
Ramsay interest reignited?
Leeds are plotting a summer move for Aberdeen youngster Calvin Ramsay, according to the Athletic. The 18-year-old was first linked with the club last year and is enjoying a fine breakout season for the Dons - making 26 Scottish Premiership appearances.
Liverpool are also reportedly vying for his signature but could not offer the right-back the same first-team opportunities. The piece claims Ramsay would be thrust into the playing squad at Elland Road - a place with a track record of developing young players.
At 30-years-old, Luke Ayling is still in his prime but Ramsay would be considered his long-term successor. The Scotland U21 international has two years left on his current contract.
Ex-Leeds man tells side where to hurt Palace
Dominic Matteo believes Leeds United can hurt Crystal Palace defensively when the two sides go head-to-head at Selhurst Park. The Whites return after a 16-day from Premier League action with a vital trip to South London, where they will be looking to stretch their unbeaten run to five matches.
Opponents Palace, meanwhile, enter the game on the back of three defeats in a row in all competitions, including last weekend’s 2-0 defeat to Chelsea in the FA Cup semi-final. They will be looking to ensure their season does not end on a whimper with their Premier League status all but secured.
But Leeds have a more pressing need for three points given their situation at the bottom of the table and speaking in the club’s pre-match show, former Whites defender Matteo thinks they have the players on the counter-attack capable of hurting Palace at the back.
He said: “Yeah, most definitely. Start on the front foot, you know it’s never going to be easy at Palace. I tell you one thing about Palace is the atmosphere is electric, it’s one of the best noises apart from Elland Road.
“I think it’s a winnable game but it won’t be easy and like you say, both sets of fans are going to enjoy that even though it’s on a Monday. It’s never handy for them on a Monday but there’ll be there as usual making a lot of noise and I think it’ll be a great, tight game.”
