Leeds United news as Sean Dyche reveals Elland Road absence after Burnley sacking

Here are your Leeds United evening headlines on Thursday, October 27.

Sean Dyche reveals Elland Road absence after Burnley sacking

Former Burnley manager Sean Dyche has spoken about searching for a new job and his approach to finding a new club to manage which has included avoiding clubs like Leeds United.

Dyche has been without a job since April after being sacked by the Clarets, who bought in Vincent Kompany in the summer to replace him, but hasn't been seen visiting many games.

The 51-year-old has been one of many names floated around by fans on social media about being a potential replacement to Jesse Marsch who's under increasing pressure after the Whites' poor recent form.

Speaking on the Athletic Football Podcast, Dyche stated he's been avoiding clubs that are further down the league table because of the media spinning the story on him.

"There was one game and there were 11 managers there and nine of them were out of work and ever since then I’ve thought that’s not for me. Some people tell me I’m naïve, but you have to have your own values.

"The reason I bring that up is because when I left Watford I only went to teams near me. But the killer for me now is that the family have moved to Nottingham. I can’t go down to Forest because the cameras zoom in and suppose you’re there for an ulterior motive.

"I couldn’t go to Leicester until recently when they started winning a few games. I couldn’t go to Wolves for the same reason, I couldn’t go to Villa for the same reason and I can’t go to Leeds for the same reason.

"I don’t do it because I think it looks wrong and that’s not what I consider my values to be."

Jesse Marsch reveals Leeds United anger amid 'never in my career' claim

Jesse Marsch has admitted he is both 'angry' and 'tired' at Leeds United's failure to capitalise on key moments in matches during recent weeks. The Whites have not won any of their last eight games in the Premier League, with four of their six defeats in that period coming by just a single goal.

While Leeds were not anywhere near their best in either of the last two losses against Leicester City and Fulham, they were left frustrated by matches against both Crystal Palace and Arsenal. Marsch's side took the lead at Selhurst Park before squandering a huge opportunity at 1-0 up to double their lead, before going onto lose the match.

Meanwhile, against Arsenal, Leeds also missed a hatful of chances to earn at least a point, including Patrick Bamford from the penalty spot. Speaking in his pre-Liverpool press conference, Marsch claimed he is growing increasingly frustrated at not taking advantage of their dominant periods in games, as well as their frequent concession of soft goals.

Liverpool expert's warning about Jurgen Klopp's men before Leeds United's Anfield visit

Leeds United travel to Anfield on Saturday looking to take advantage of Liverpool's inconsistencies as they hope to end their own winless run of eight matches. However, the Reds received a huge confidence boost on Wednesday night as they comprehensively defeated Ajax 3-0 at the Amsterdam ArenA to secure their qualification for the Champions League last-16.

Liverpool, though, find themselves very much off the pace in the Premier League in comparison to seasons gone by. They currently sit eight in the table and are already 12 points adrift of top spot having already dropped points against Nottingham Forest, Crystal Palace, Fulham, Brighton, Everton, Arsenal and Manchester United.

Question marks have been asked as to whether Klopp's squad is coming towards the end of its cycle and whether they can return to their previously relentless ways. Liverpool Echo's Liverpool correspondent Paul Gorst believes they are currently somewhere 'in the middle' of that scale, but are by no means 'a busted flush' ahead of Leeds' visit.
