Leeds United news as Raphinha sends Georginio Rutter message after 'amazing' Elland Road arrival

Here are your latest Leeds United morning headlines on Sunday, January 15.

Raphinha sends Georginio Rutter message after Elland Road arrival

Raphinha has sent Georginio Rutter an affectionate message on Instagram following his arrival from Bundesliga outfit Hoffenheim.

Rutter has penned a five-and-a-half-year deal with the Whites for a fee in the region of an initial £25 million, with add-ons expected to increase the deal to £35 million.

The Frenchman becomes the second player to land at Elland Road during the January transfer window, and ex-Leeds winger Raphinha was among those to wish him well upon his arrival in England.

Raphinha wrote on Instagram: "Congratulations brother. Enjoy this amazing club and this amazing city."

The Brazilian international scored 17 goals in 65 appearances for Leeds in the Premier League. He left Elland Road last summer and joined Barcelona, where he has scored just three goals in 22 outings.

Leeds United's Max Wober handling leadership challenge as selection plan laid out

Max Wober was barely through the Leeds United door when Jesse Marsch issued his first challenge to him. The American knows Wober well from their time at Red Bull Salzburg together and he knows the impact he can make by asserting himself and making his voice heard.

He certainly made his presence felt on his debut at Cardiff City, arriving into the action in the second half and helping Leeds come from two goals down to secure a replay against the Bluebirds at Elland Road. Wober settled things down against Aston Villa, too, on what was his Premier League bow, arriving in the game after seeing Leeds go two down and bringing composure.

Ultimately, despite Leeds turning in what Marsch described as the ‘most complete performance of his tenure’, Wober couldn’t repeat the trick and help to pull the Whites back to level pegging at Villa Park. The Austrian has made an encouraging start to life in West Yorkshire, though, and he’ll have his eyes on a full debut over the next week or so, either in the FA Cup or against Brentford next weekend in the Premier League.

'Magic formula' Leeds United are using to make a 'difference' in the transfer market

Leeds United have been using scouting tool SciSports to help identify potential signings in the transfer market. The Whites have already acquired Max Wober from Red Bull Salzburg, and Georginio Rutter from Hoffenheim.

Jesse Marsch made seven signings during his first transfer window at the helm last summer. Luis Sinisterra, Tyler Adams and Wilfried Gnonto were among the summer recruits, while Leeds have previously invested in youth with the intention of developing and nurturing their talent.

Crysencio Summerville and Sam Greenwood are prime examples of this philosophy, but Leeds, along with 74 other clubs, have been receiving a helping hand with their transfer activity.
