Leeds United news as Harry Kane offers Whites praise amid Marcelo Bielsa exit talk

Here are the latest Leeds United morning headlines on Sunday, 27 February 2022.

Kane’s Leeds praise

Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane has praised the style of Leeds United amid suggestions Marcelo Bielsa is set to leave his role at the club.

Spurs dismantled the Whites 4-0 at Elland Road yesterday which, according to reports, could be Bielsa’s final game in charge.

Speaking after the game, Kane claimed that Leeds can be very dangerous in their man-to-man system, but thinks his side nullified it very well.

He told Spurs TV: "It was a really good performance. It was great to bounce back from the disappointment of mid-week and playing against a tough side away from home.

"Obviously we know how Leeds play, we know they can be dangerous, especially with one v ones so credit to the boys, everyone was fantastic.

"We took our chances well and controlled the game well in the second half so overall a great day but we know we have got to be more consistent and have performances like this more often than not."

Repeated Leeds problem

Throughout the Marcelo Bielsa era, whenever Kalvin Phillips has been unavailable for Leeds, his absence has always been extremely hard-felt.

And that trend has heightened this season, with Phillips having missed over half of the campaign already due to a hamstring injury.

Leeds have won just twice in 14 outings without him, winning three of their 12 with him in the side.

In the games Phillips has played, though, Leeds have lost just three times - to Liverpool, West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur; the other six were drawn.

On the other hand, the Whites have lost 10 of 14 when Phillips has been unavailable this season.

Fan reaction to Bielsa reports

Leeds United fans have paid tribute to Marcelo Bielsa as reports continue to gather pace he could be set to depart the club.

Bielsa masterminded the Whites’ return to the Premier League after a 16-year absence and played a major part in rebuilding the relationship between the club and its supporters.

However, following a six-game winless run, a period in which Leeds have conceded 21 goals, it appears his time could be coming to an end.
