Leeds United issue 68-word statement on Newcastle United supporters' Elland Road complaints

Leeds United have responded to issues raised by Newcastle United supporters attending last Saturday's Premier League fixture between the two clubs, regarding stewarding and turnstile issues.

Some away supporters are said to have experienced lengthy delays brought on by turnstile malfunction and ticketing problems.

A spokesperson on behalf of Leeds United has issued the following statement: "The club acknowledges the complaints raised by some Newcastle United supporters regarding issues experienced entering Elland Road on Saturday.

"Leeds United will now work with the Newcastle Supporters Trust, West Yorkshire Police and our own safety team to review the issues raised and ensure we continue to provide a safe environment for everyone attending our stadium.

"We will not make any further comment until a review is complete," it finishes.

This follows Leeds United supporters' own complaints when gaining entry to Stamford Bridge earlier this season.

Leeds United Supporters' Trust sought clarity from the Metropolitan Police and Chelsea Football Club over perceived failings to safely steward away supporters into the stadium back in December.

Similar concerns have been raised by Newcastle's own Supporters' Trust, who Leeds United state they are now working alongside.

It is alleged turnstile failure created a 'dangerous situation' for visiting fans in the lead up to kick-off at 3pm on Saturday.
