Leeds United fans question Marcelo Bielsa decision to leave Joe Gelhardt on bench v Liverpool

Leeds fans are furious that Marcelo Bielsa has named Joe Gelhardt on the bench tonight.

Supporters urged the Argentine to pick the youngster in our pre-match survey but Bielsa has backed record signing Rodrigo after his goal against Man Utd on Sunday. The Whites have made the daunting trip to Anfield hoping to end a run of four games without a win.

The recent run of results has sucked the Whites into the Premier League relegation dogfight, with 18th-placed Watford just five points behind. A lack of cover for injured star striker Patrick Bamford is causing alarm bells to ring for some at Elland Road as the business end of the season approaches.

Concussion protocols rule Robin Koch out of tonight's clash after the nasty head injury he received against Man Utd, with Stuart Dallas filling the gap in midfield.

Talisman Raphinha and Junior Firpo also come into the side in place of Diego Llorente and the sidelined Koch.

Leeds fans were quick to react on social media when the starting line-up was announced...

@LondonLUFC: Nah behave Joffy should start ahead of Harrison. I love Harrison too but he’s been well off it. James don’t deserve to be dropped so it makes sense.

@harrymc71652458: Free Joffy

@darrenj02173158: Play Joffy and leave that other waste of space on the bench

@NiallBranton: Ayling at CB does not work… we have a CB on the bench!!!!

@Danny39098934: For the love of God, what do we play players out of position?! Keep Ayling RB! And Cresswell at CB. Joffy needs to be getting game time now.

@NathanP92: Ayling in cb…. Oh my.
