Leeds United eyeing another RB Salzburg swoop for defender Rasmus Kristensen

Leeds United are plotting another trip back to Austria with an approach for RB Salzburg right-back Rasmus Kristensen. The Athletic claims the Whites are have identified the 24-year-old as a potential signing this summer.

Kristensen is no stranger to Jesse Marsch, having spent two of his three seasons in Austria, working under the Leeds United boss. The Whites have been quoted a reported asking price of £10million for the Danish international, a considerably lower fee than what Leeds paid for Brenden Aaronson.

Marsch is looking to bolster his entire squad this summer after surviving by the skin of their teeth on the final day of the season. Injury problems blighted the last campaign and they're set to carry on into the 2022/23 season.

Luke Ayling could be out for four months which would leave the Whites short of defensive options. Cody Drameh could step into the role after a solid loan spell with Cardiff City, while Jamie Shackleton is another possible alternative. Kristensen is described as an aggressive defender which would fit in with Marsch's intended style of play.

However, Borussia Dortmund and Brentford are also keen on the Dane this summer. If the Whites are able to fend off potential suitors, it would take their spending to £35million before the window opens next month.
