Leeds Rhinos fell to an agonising 22-20 defeat to Warrington Wolves in the opening game of the 2022 season.
Here are the player ratings.
Jack Walker - 6: An encouraging return to action for the fullback who was safe under the high ball, good defensively and carried back with vigour. He just struggled to make his presence felt in attack and was at times just a shade off where he needed to be.
David Fusitu'a - 6: Enjoyed a very promising start and there was a feeling of excitement every time he carried the ball. But couldn't keep hold of Aidan Sezer's crossfield kick and dropped the ball two further times late in the first half. Was subbed at the break due to a concussion.
Tom Briscoe - 7: Solid performance in a position he is likely to play more often this year. Carried strong and defended well.
Liam Sutcliffe - 6: A quiet game overall for the centre but didn't do anything particularly wrong.
Ash Handley - 9: Tremendous performance by the England winger. His work in yardage was superb, he came up with big plays and his ability to finish that try in the second half was stunning. Superb start to the season.
Richie Myler - N/A: Went off early with a groin injury and didn't return. Will be a blow if he's out for a long period.
Aidan Sezer - 7: A decent start by the new halfback in testing circumstances. Really tried to drag them around the field, largely on his own, and tried to make the most of a bad situation after Myler's withdrawal.
Matt Prior - 7: Typical Matt Prior. Dominant defensively, makes up for the shortcomings of his teammates and even bagged a cheeky try on his 300th career appearance.
Kruise Leeming - 6.5: Mixed bag. Was electric out of the ruck early and made loads of in-roads, but he came up with a few plays in the second half that didn't help his team at a key time.
Zane Tetevano - 7: Showed Leeds fans what they have missed with a powerful display. Made himself known defensively and carried with aggression, one of which resulted in a try.
James Bentley - 4: Disastrous debut after being red-carded with just 16 minutes on the clock. Could hardly complain, either.
Rhyse Martin - 7.5: Impressive display as he caused problems, got through a heap of work and converted tries well. Even more remarkable given the news his father had passed in the week.
Cameron Smith - 7: Got the ball moving through the middle and more often than not correctly decided whether to carry or play out of the back.
Brad Dwyer - 6: Was as lively as ever but came up with some costly mistakes.
Mikolaj Oledzki - 6.5: A steady start to the season for the England international. Not as noticeable as usual.
Morgan Gannon - 7: Came on and made several positive contributions.
James Donaldson - 7: Made an impact when he came on. Rarely lets the team down.
