If you're heading to Leeds Festival 2022 there are a few essentials you won't want to forget. Before you set off, it's important to have a packing checklist to make sure you have everything with you when you arrive at the gates.
The August Bank Holiday weekend weather can be temperamental so you want to be sure to bring comfortable clothing. Toilet roll, sun cream and ID are also festival must-haves and can make your life miserable if you forget them.
Whether you're preparing now or packing at the last minute, LeedsLive has provided packing tips and an essentials checklist for this year's Leeds Festival.

Ticket
Sounds obvious however when you're focused on the smaller details you can leave without the most essential item. Make sure you put it in a compartment that's easily accessible where it won't get creased or damaged. You need to show your ticket upon entry and organisers Festival Republic don't sell passes at the site.
Identification
Take a driving licence or passport with you. These will be needed as Leeds Festival operates an under 21 policy therefore if you're lucky enough to look under that age you will be refused service. You may also need them if you plan to collect tickets.
Phone and charger
Again, sounds fairly obvious as you're not likely to forget your phone but you are more likely to forget your charger. It is highly recommended that you bring a power bank with you that you have already charged up at home. Consider pre-ordering a Charge Candy package to top up your phone the whole weekend.
Camping gear
In the chaos of packing, be sure to remember your tent as well smaller accessories like pegs and a peg hammer. If you've chosen an airbed, remember to bring a pump. If you bring sleeping bags, remember to bring a soft foam mat for the floor of the tent as it can get uncomfortable.
Cooking essentials such as a stove, cutlery and plates and bowls are also essential. See the official Leeds Festival website for what you can and can't take into the campsite.
Food and drink
It's important to be realistic about the food you're gonna take. Bring food that is not likely to expire or get neglected.
If you're hoping to do any cooking - even just heating up some beans or soup - you'll need to take a stove. And it's a good idea to take snacks such as nuts, fruit and biscuits to help keep you going.
A4 size bag or smaller
The size of your bag is important as if it is too big you won't be able to bring it into the arena. All bags must be no bigger than A4 size - dimensions of 30cm height, 21cm width and 8cm depth.
Cash
It's not a good idea to take wads of cash with you, but taking some with you in case you need it is probably wise. There are cash machines on site if you run out in the first couple of days.
Comfortable clothing
The British weather is unpredictable, so despite what the weather forecast says, bring clothes that you can layer up if needed. Daytime may be warm - but at 4am when your outdoors in shorts, it can be a different story.
Comfortable shoes are essential and we'd even go as far as to say bring a pair of wellies as it can get notoriously muddy at Leeds. Also pack more socks than you think you need.
As anyone who's ever had sunstroke will tell you, it's not a pleasant experience so be sure to bring a hat to go some way to protect from the sun's rays if it's particularly hot.
Suncream
It's important not to ruin your festival experience by being burnt. You will mostly be outside for your whole weekend and you don't want to come back home looking like lobster.
Toilet roll/ wipes
There will likely be some on site however if you forget to bring some you're guaranteed to be punished later on.
Hand sanitiser
Though Covid restrictions have eased, it's still important to be vigilant. And it's also good to have if you have no immediate access to water if you need to clean your hands.
Re-useable bottle
All that moshing will leave you dehydrated so it's important to bring a bottle that can be used at waterpoints both on the campsite and in the arena.
