As a future first-ballot Hall of Famer, LeBron James is no stranger to collecting accolades. And, with the Lakers superstar preparing for his 21st NBA season, James’s longevity has garnered him another milestone: becoming the NBA’s oldest player.
The 38-year-old James, as unbelievable as it may be, will play out his sixth year in L.A. as the league’s elder statesman, a fact the four-time NBA champion appeared shocked to learn on Thursday.
A short clip shared by the NBA featured an amusing, meme-worthy scream in response to the future NBA trivia fact by James, who later continued to feign his surprise with a round of screaming emojis on X (formerly Twitter).
Just check out James’s wild reaction for yourself:

While many NBA fans and pundits will likely keep the joke alive once the season arrives, James, who will turn 39 on Dec. 30, made it clear he wasn’t sweating the revelation too much in the clip, which concluded with him viciously throwing down an alley-oop.
Needless to say, whether it’s Kevin Durant or Victor Wembanyama, James will have a little extra motivation to battle stars of all ages as he continues adding to a résumé he began building at 19 years old.
