The lawsuit filed against Jimmy Iovine for sexual assault and misconduct in November has been dropped. The plaintiff's lawyer confirmed that the matter was resolved to the satisfaction of the parties, leading to the filing of a notice of discontinuance on Feb. 15. This means the lawsuit cannot be refiled.
The case was initially brought by an unnamed woman in New York Supreme Court under the Adult Survivors Act, which allows victims of sexual assault a one-year look-back period to file a lawsuit against their abuser. The plaintiff alleged that she was sexually abused, forcibly touched, and subjected to harassment and retaliation in August 2007.
Representatives for both Iovine and the plaintiff have not provided comments on the matter. When the claim first surfaced, a spokesperson for Iovine expressed shock and denial, stating that no previous complaints had been made against him.
Jimmy Iovine, known for co-founding Interscope Records and Beats Electronics, has not issued a public statement regarding the dropped lawsuit.
It is worth noting that the plaintiff's lawyer, Doug Wigdor, also represents Casandra Ventura, professionally known as Cassie. In a separate case, Cassie filed a lawsuit against Sean “Diddy” Combs, alleging a decade of abuse, including rape and sex trafficking. This lawsuit was also filed under the New York’s Adult Survivors Act and was settled amicably shortly after being filed.
