Tight end Lawrence Cager is signing with New York on their practice squad. It’s just that he’s changing colors.
After being released by the Jets Saturday, Cager is signing with the other occupant of MetLife Stadium, the Giants. Cager had an opportunity to stay with the Jets on their practice squad, but likely thought he had a better chance of more playing time with the Giants.
The #Jets wanted Lawrence Cager on their practice squad. He picked the #Giants practice squad. My assumption: Better chance to play once he acclimates himself.
Cager wasn't seeing field with #NYJ after the opener. https://t.co/joGyahjgcb

Cager was active for the first game of the season but had been inactive ever since, as the Jets made rookie Jeremy Ruckert their third tight end until Sunday’s game against the Packers, when that spot when to Kenny Yeboah.
The Giants currently have Daniel Bellinger, Chris Myarick and Tanner Hudson on their 53-man roster. He very well could find himself on the active roster at some point, perhaps sooner rather than later. Cager is also the only tight end on the Giants’ practice squad. Time will tell on Cager as he begins his next opportunity.
