Latest from NYFW: Emily Ratajkowski and Kourtney Kardashian toast new chapters in NYC

Newly single and ready to runway, Emily Ratajkowski made her second New York Fashion Week appearance last night at the Tory Burch Spring 2023 show, held on Pier 76 overlooking the Hudson River at (a beautifully purplish) sunset.

The model and author, who had also joined the Peltz-Beckhams and Serena Williams at the Vogue World event on Monday night, looked effortlessly cool in a backless black mesh top, tomato red midi skirt and giant dream catcher style earrings.

The collection was, said Burch, “personal and intuitive,” and drew on her memories of the 90s when she - originally from Pensylvannia - moved to New York. “I wanted to look at my signatures with a fresh perspective, reflecting what feels modern now.”

And certainly the satin car coats in browns and pastels paired with pedal pushers, pointed ballet flats and transparent mesh tops felt fresh and relevant. Ruched mini skirts layered over everything from suit trousers to lacey mesh maxi dresses were a clever take on the dubious dress-over-trousers trend so loved by the eras style gurus Trinny and Suzannah. The superfine knits, delicate jewellery-like belts bags and sculpted tunic tops were all further evidence that Burch’s 90s renaissance would not lack sophistication.

Boohoo’s new sustainability ambassador Kourtney Kardashian Barker also celebrated the 90s last night as her first collection with the brand - featuring Blink 182 band hoodies - had its runway outing.

The backlash surrounding the partnership designed to “discover more about sustainability and style” is, said the Kardashian in an Instagram post on Tuesday, exactly what she was hoping for, admitting the the two “just don’t go hand in hand.”
