The blaze pumped out so much smoke neighbours in Chelsfield Hill, Orpington were instructed by firefighters to keep their windows closed.

The cause of the fire is not yet known.

There are no early reports of injuries, the London Fire Brigade said after they were called to the blaze at 2.17am on Wednesday.

“The fire is creating a lot of smoke and people in the nearby area should keep their windows and doors shut.”

The A21 is currently closed between Rushmore Hill and Hewitts roundabout. Motorists are advised to avoid the area where possible.

The Brigade was called at 2.17am and the fire was under control by 6.22am.
