Large cordon in south Manchester after cyclist reportedly hit by car on Princess Road

A cyclist was reportedly hit by a car on Princess Road (A5103) in south Manchester.

The incident initially sparked a large police presence on the main road, outside the Hough End Leisure Centre.

Emergency services scrambled to the scene shortly after 9pm on February 9.

A large cordon was erected on the main road, blocking off the junction with Whitchurch Road, near Withington.

Princess Road was closed southbound on Wednesday evening (ASP)

Drivers also had to divert down Mauldeth Road West as police blocked the carriageway southbound.

Traffic police were also in attendance.

The Manchester Evening News understands that a woman was hit when riding her bike.

Further down the stretch of road, a dark silver car was pictured with a completely shattered windscreen and crushed bonnet.

The ambulance left at 10pm, with traffic officers remaining at the scene.

Her condition is not yet known.

Greater Manchester Police have been contacted for further information on the incident.
