New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye was injured near the end of the first half of Sunday’s game against the New York Jets. Per WZLX’s Michael Hurley, “large chunks” of fans were reportedly seen leaving the game early after the injury.
The team was trailing 13-7 at the time of the injury, as veteran Jacoby Brissett stepped back under center to lead the offense for the first time since Week 5.
It’s clear who Patriots fans want to see at quarterback considering Maye has delivered a spark for the offense since taking over as the starter. The UNC product had thrown for 564 yards, five touchdowns and two interceptions entering the contest.
He was 3-of-6 for 23 yards and a rushing touchdown at the time of his injury against the Jets.
A source outside Gillette Stadium has informed me that large chunks of fans have used halftime as an opportunity to leave the game.
Can’t fault them for making the traffic/Brissett calculation and bailing.

There’s no doubt that Maye gives the Patriots the best chance to win games. So it’s understandable why the team was disappointed to see him go down so early in the game with the team already coming off six straight losses.
