Lara Loomer defended US President Donald Trump after he received backlash over Barack and Michelle Obama video depicted as apes.
In a post on X, Loomer said that even other Republicans and Democrats were also shown as Lion King-like characters, with Trump as a lion and king of the jungle.
"The full Barack Obama “monkey video” portrays numerous elected officials, Republicans and Democrats, as Lion King-like characters, with Trump as a lion and king of the jungle. Interesting how this fact is not being reported on," she said.
The AI-generated video, posted on X in October 2025, depicted several prominent Democrats as animals bowing before Trump. In the full clip, President Joe Biden appears as a baboon, Vice President Kamala Harris as a tortoise, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer as a zebra, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries as a meerkat, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez as a donkey, New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani as a hyena, and former secretary of state Hillary Clinton as a warthog.
The video sparked widespread backlash after Trump shared it. Content creator Xerias later claimed responsibility for producing the original clip.
Later, the White House also came in support for the Trump. Press secretary Karoline Leavitt said the outrage over 'racist' video was fake, as it was from an internet meme video. Leavitt said the meme video depicted President Trump as the King of the Jungle and Democrats as characters from 'The Lion King'. “Please stop the fake outrage and report on something today that actually matters to the American public,” Leavitt said in a statement to Newsweek.
